‘And now for something completely different…’

No, it’s not the Pythons. It’s Mozart. Although they once did a skit about Colin Mozart (“…Rats extirpated, mice punished…”).

Sissy Willis at Sisu reminded her readers that today is the 254th anniversary of the birth of Mozart and linked to a 1986 video of the distinguished Vladimir Horowitz playing the composer’s Piano Concerto Number 23. Our favorite footage is this of the concerto’s third movement. Listening to Horowitz–by then in his 80s–playing Mozart is a beautiful way to leave this day behind to enter the world of sleep and dreams.
