DNC scrambles to deflate Obama video before Daily Caller story published; another Obama video released

The Democratic National Committee — armed with the help of dismissive tweets from a variety of journalists — scrambled Tuesday night to attack The Daily Caller for its videos of President Obama’s controversial race comments in 2007 before the story was even published.

Using comments from reporters speculating on TheDC’s report, the Democrats quickly worked to dismiss the story it hadn’t seen yet — which was teased Tuesday afternoon on Sean Hannity’s radio show and on the Drudge Report — by calling it “lame.”

At about 7:30 p.m. ET, the DNC Rapid Response team sent an email to reporters titled “That was Lame,” listing “instant reaction to the latest lame Drudge/Hannity desperation tactics.”

The email merely included tweets from journalists — before the story was published — expressing skepticism and disinterest and the mistaken claim that the video had been published before.

The tweets used by the Democratic National Committee came from reporters at organizations including Politico, BuzzFeed, The Huffington Post, The New York Times, New York Magazine and the Atlantic.

The mere prospect that videos of Obama talking about race and his former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, would be published had the committee quickly working to kill the story.

In an attempt to link the story to Republican nominee Mitt Romney, the DNC also sent out an old story about Romney saying he would not make Wright a campaign issue…

…I was struck by the way that Obama portrayed those who commit crimes and become imprisoned are “caught up” in a “prison industrial complex” that would not be tolerated if white people didn’t think of blacks and Latinos as unlike them.

And the class warfare talk never ends…

A commenter on the blog replied:

You know who loves the term “prison industrial complex?” Bill Ayers.

Also, October Surprise, Anyone?

…this is straight up Alinsky; these are Obama’s community organizer roots coming out. As Alinsky wrote, “The organizer dedicated to changing the life of a particular community must first rub raw the resentments of the people of the community; fan the latent hostilities to the point of overt expression.” (Rules for Radicals, p. 102).

Ladies and gentlemen, Americans of every race and gender, we are being used for one purpose, and one purpose alone: to radically reorganize the American way of life. And I will be surprised if this is news to anyone.

Perhaps my biggest beef with the speech was when President Obama talked about Hurricane Katrina and the New Orleans residents, comparing it to September 11th and New York City. Beyond just blatantly ignoring the fact that the federal government had, indeed, sent money multiple times with no strings attached for the completely illogical purpose of rebuilding a city below sea level, he compared a hurricane where people had a week’s notice to a terrorist attack that hit New York residents with no warning…

And, finally, the members of Trinity United Church begin to speak. Jerome Corsi picks up the story that the Chicago-based bloggers HillBuzz have been trying to tell for the past four years:

NEW YORK – Ten years ago, the New York Times reported on a growing underground subculture in the black community known as Down Low, comprised largely of men who secretly engage in homosexual activity while living “straight” lives in public…

The 2003 New York Times story, “Double Lives on the Down Low,” said that though many black men reject “a gay culture they perceive as white and effeminate,” they “have settled on a new identity, with its own vocabulary and customs and its own name: Down Low.”…
