Huge: CSCOPE is out of Texas

Glenn had some good new to kick off the third hour of radio today – the controversial CSCOPE program would no longer be providing lesson plans for Texas.

“I want to give you some good news, good news on that you are making a difference. A letter signed now by all 20 members of the board of education for the State of Texas just released, will notify 875 school district clients that all lessons and lesson plans will now be removed from those websites on August 31st. The districts are no longer and cannot use any lessons from CSCOPE anymore. The era of CSCOPE is over,” Glenn said.

State Senator Dan Patrick said, “This is a positive development for students, parents, teachers, and for the Regional Service Centers. I want to thank the members of the Senate Education Committee for their months of work on this issue. I also want to thank Attorney General Greg Abbott and his staff in providing valuable assistance in our review of CSCOPE.”

Glenn said that Texans should stay vigilant to make sure that CSCOPE isn’t replaced with an even worse like Common Core or another program under the same name.

At least two states have rejected the Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSSI) draft standards submitted by state governors and endorsed by the Obama administration. With the White House proposing to make federal funds contingent on states adopting the “voluntary” standards, other officials are reconsidering their commitment to the initiative as well…
