Duck Dynasty’s Robertson Angers Alcoholics, Philanderers
Komissar Blogunov
12/19/2013

…Achmed al-Tikriti, president of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance of Muslims (GLAM) spoke out passionately on the Piers Morgan Show: “As a member of the most progressive and tolerant religion on earth, I urge Phil Robertson to reconsider his damaging statements and to declare jihad on his bigotry. It was enough that A&E would not ban “in Jesus’ Name” at their unclean mealtime prayers, but this, this is more than we can bear. By the prophet, the pain is so hurtful! Make it stop!”

A message released by A&E’s Department of Tolerance stated, “We have long been strong and proud supporters of adultery, bestiality, idolatry, drunkenness, greed, slander, and swindling. We deeply regret Mr. Robertson’s slanderous libel against our minority citizens and urge him to shut up until he learns a little tolerance.”

Completely unrepentant, Mr. Robertson says he’s “happy, happy, happy” to take a stand for Christ.

“…this is the level of punitive PC, utterly fascist, utterly Stalinist, OK, that my liberal colleagues in the Democratic party and on college campuses have supported and promoted over the last several decades. It’s the whole legacy of the free speech 1960’s that have been lost by my own party.”

Andrew Sullivan befuddled by ‘firing’ of ‘Duck Dynasty’s’ Phil Robertson

Though there is support coming from the Left regarding A&E’s suspension of Phil Robertson, there are notable exceptions, as evidenced by Andrew Sullivan’s tweet…

The ‘Duck Dynasty’ Fiasco Says More About Our Bigotry Than Phil’s

Why is our go-to political strategy for beating our opponents to silence them? Why do we dismiss, rather than engage them?

Then we have the banning of speech decrying the banning of speech: Facebook bans admin of new ‘Boycott A&E’ page for generating too much support

…Fans who went to the page saw a message that read: “This page is to show support for the freedom of speech of Americans. Unless Phil is reinstated to the show, we refuse to watch the A&E Channel!”

Apparently this didn’t sit well with Facebook. The administrator of the page was banned for 12 hours because of the overwhelming positive response. Apparently gaining 4,500 followers in just one hour isn’t acceptable…

Lefty Fey Outrage About PajamaBoy and Duck Dynasty

…On one level, I don’t get the mindset that says you can’t be happy if someone, somewhere doesn’t approve of your lifestyle. What’s the Big Deal if a guy on a cable TV show doesn’t like you? Obsession that someone, somewhere might disapprove of you seems like a cripplingly neurotic way to go through life. (We’ll leave aside, for the moment, the obsession secular leftists have with judging what “true Christians” should and should not believe.)

On another level, I understand it completely. Faux outrage generates publicity. Publicity generates donations. Donations ensure that Wilson Cruz can keep his cushy job as an outraged spokesperson for GLAAD and not have to get a real job in the miserable Obamaconomy…

‘It’s not about money; it’s about freedom of speech’: Glenn Beck responds to Duck Dynasty controversy

…“I want to start with Duck Dynasty and what happened with Duck Dynasty. It is one of the most incredible stories I have heard,” Glenn said on radio this morning. “Now and I don’t know what the Robertsons are going to do. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I can’t imagine that A&E is going to cancel that thing, but if they do, I want to make it very clear to the Robertsons: If they fire you, TheBlaze would love to be in business with you. And it’s not about money. It’s about freedom of speech. You know, I said this with Paula Deen. I didn’t agree with what Paula Deen said by any stretch of the imagination, but you don’t destroy people like that. We’re not those people…

“…Duck Dynasty, we would be proud to have you. May I suggest: Make your stand. You will never have a better chance. And quite honestly, you’re our best shot as people. If we don’t get people to wake up to the fact that this is fascism, that we are not allowed to have another opinion. If we don’t get them to wake up now, they’re never going to wake up, and you’re our best shot. Diversity of thought…”

In the interview, Robertson crassly explains why he personally does not understand homosexually, but he also clarifies that he does judge anyone because “that’s the Almighty’s job.”…

…Robertson released his own statement prior to the news of his hiatus:

“I myself am a product of the ’60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock and roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior. My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the Bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together. However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.”

#DuckDynastyOnTheBlaze? Fans on Twitter certainly seem to think that would be a good idea

The Clash Daily released this statement by the Robertson Family:

“We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E’s decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word.

While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right.

We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty.

Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.”

Update: The Ulsterman Report, The Era Of Barack Obama’s Blacklist America – Phil Robertson Edition

…this issue goes far beyond what is happening to one man from a famous television family. It is a war of ideas, or perhaps more accurately, a war to control what ideas are deemed acceptable and what ideas are not. If a man can be attacked for sharing views based upon the teachings of the Bible, what then is the next logical course of action for those who disagree with such views?

To ban the Bible itself.

If you don’t think that is possible, you best open your eyes a bit wider and see how much thought policing is already going on today. It’s a short hop from silencing an individual to silencing the source of that individual’s beliefs.

Wake up America – the war is upon us. Which side do you intend to fight on? For freedom of thought and expression, or for those who would diminish and ultimately silence such freedom?

The choice (for now) is yours…

Robertson Suspension has Massive Monetary Implications for A&E

…The show’s ratings are historic. As Forbes reported in November, “Duck Dynasty” has become history’s most popular reality show, surpassing 11 million viewers in this August’s season opener. Monetarily, the numbers are even better: the franchise is expected to bring in $400 million in product tie-ins by the end of 2013…
