Albeit without the awful toll of American blood, and far less American treasure, the US under President Obama’s feckless, if now “triumphal” leadership, has extended the delusive utopian policy of his Republican predecessor-“Making the World Safe for Sharia?”-to Libya.
The salient feature of Libya’s new draft constitution is Part 1, Article 1:
Islam is the Religion of the State, and the principal source of legislation is Islamic Jurisprudence (Sharia).
Once again, we appear to be witnessing a regional Muslim phenomenon which the prototype Algerian jihadists of the 1990s formulated with succinct candor:
Islamic state by the will of the people.

The West has now helped replace two relatively toothless secular Muslim strongmen in Egypt and Libya with fanatics who will enforce poisonous sharia law to the letter. The best of a bad lot (Muslim leaders), the Shah of Iran was replaced by a Muslim theocracy now threatening nuclear attack vs Israel and the West. And Western blood and treasure has been wasted trying to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear in Iraq and Afghanistan both of which chose to stick with sharia law that creates sow’s ears wherever it is in force. Add the saving of Muslims in Kosovo when they were no better than their Serbian opponents and one really has to wonder, what other civilization other than Western has nurtured its deathly declared enemies in so foolish a fashion?
CNN correspondent Sara Sidner is in Tripoli, Libya reporting on the rebel advance into the city. Unfortunately when she was interviewed recently whoever was in charge of graphics at CNN must’ve been someone who flunked geography…
