So he knows. Obama knows that the opposition is al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood, so he just waives the ban on arming our mortal enemy? Who died and made him dictator?

“Obama waives ban on arming terrorists to allow aid to Syrian opposition” The Examiner, September 16, 2013 (thanks to Van)

President Obama waived a provision of federal law designed to prevent the supply of arms to terrorist groups to clear the way for the U.S. to provide military assistance to “vetted” opposition groups fighting Syrian dictator Bashar Assad.

Some elements of the Syrian opposition are associated with radical Islamic terrorist groups, including al Qaeda, which was responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks in New York, Washington, D.C., and Shanksville, Pa., in 2001. Assad’s regime is backed by Iran and Hezbollah.

The president, citing his authority under the Arms Export Control Act, announced today that he would “waive the prohibitions in sections 40 and 40A of the AECA related to such a transaction.”…

Related: Will Syria be Obama’s Iran-Contra?

…Obama’s arming of the brutish Syrian rebels is most easily compared to the Iran-Contra Scandal where the Reagan administration, through the CIA, armed Nicaraguan counter revolutionaries known as the Contras. Much like the push against Assad, President Ronald Reagan’s officials were adamant that the Sandinista government in Nicaragua had to go, and much like today’s situation in Syria, we were told the enemy of our enemy was our friend and should be supported.  The Contras, like the Syrian rebels, were brutal and committed atrocious acts in the name of their cause whilst being funded and trained by CIA operatives against the express instruction of the US Congress.

Of course the Reagan administration didn’t waive laws or publicly flout Congressional authority, they instead continued funding the Contras through illegal CIA back channels. Which course of action is worse is debatable. But the parallels between what was at the time one of the largest scandals to come out of DC and this current administration’s activities in Syria are undeniable. So where is the media? Why has neither liberal nor conservative news outlets made this connection? …

Obama waives ban on giving guns to terrorists

…Under section 40(g) of the AECA, the Obama team must also provide Congress — at least 15 days before turning over the weapons — “the name of any country involved in the proposed transaction, the identity of any recipient of the items to be provided pursuant to the proposed transaction, and the anticipated use of those items,” along with a list of the weaponry to be provided, when they will be delivered, and why the transfer is key to American security interests.

Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., and Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., endorsed providing military assistance to the Syrian opposition during an appearance on CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday.

“Our intelligence agencies, I think, have a very good handle on who to support and who not to support,” Corker said. “And there’s going to be mistakes. We understand some people are going to get arms that should not be getting arms. But we still should be doing everything we can to support the free Syrian opposition.”…

Buck Sexton: Iran an “active military combatant” in Syria’s civil war

On Monday’s Glenn Beck Program, Buck Sexton analyzed new repots that suggest Iran has taken an active role in Syria’s civil war.

According to the New York Times, video has now surfaced showing Iranian commanders and members of the Revolutionary guard fighting alongside pro-Assad military groups against the rebels in the region.

Syria also has the support of Lebanon and their Hezbollah-led government.

“This whole region is already in the war,” Buck said, “It’s not just one country it is many countries.”…

Update:   Glenn Beck Dissects Move by Obama on Syria That He Says May Amount to ‘Treason’

Glenn Beck asked on Tuesday why exactly we are not discussing treason or impeachment with regard to the president’s recent decision to waive restrictions under a federal law that prohibits arming terrorists.

“Just so we are all clear on this, let me read article 3, section 3 of the U.S. Constitution about treason,” Beck said.  “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.”

Beck noted that he recently said in a New York Times article that he has never called for the impeachment of President Obama.

“At the time I said that, I suspected that we were giving aid and comfort and weapons to Al Qaeda, but I was still holding out some sort of hope that you could never really prove it, I guess, he wasn’t knowingly doing it,” Beck said.  “But by him waiving this law, he has admitted that he knows he is giving aid and comfort to a global terrorist organization, because there’s no other reason to waive that law!”

“This president, John McCain, Lindsey Graham, and John Boehner, and anyone else who stands for giving aid and comfort, military support to Al Qaeda in Syria, should be impeached,” Beck declared. “Notice there’s Republicans and Democrats, so it’s clearly not about party.”…

…Beck concluded by strongly urging viewers enough to watch Gaffney’s entire course on the Muslim Brotherhood at MuslimBrotherhoodInAmerica.com
