Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) made a triumphant return to Congress on Thursday after a stroke and subsequent recovery 11 months ago.

Kirk was greeted by many members of the House and Senate at the Capitol steps, who cheered and waved as Kirk slowly made his way to the top. Vice President Joe Biden and Sens. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va) helped Kirk to the entrance.
