This is what a faculty lounge presidency looks like

Perception is reality. So if we just control perception, reality disappears — or rather, adheres to the perception we impose on it.  We are the ones we’ve been waiting for, and through our iconography and manufacturing of consent we shall lead ye.

Leftists have always believed this.  Without somehow recognizing the enormous folly and gargantuan arrogance and narcissism involved in even countenancing such a dangerous bit of hubris…

…A U.S. official briefed on the military options being considered by President Obama told the Los Angeles Times that the White House is seeking a strike on Syria “just muscular enough not to get mocked.”

“They are looking at what is just enough to mean something, just enough to be more than symbolic,” the official told the paper, giving credence to similar reports describing a limited military strike in the aftermath of last week’s alleged chemical weapons attack…

PRESIDENT WHO GIVES SPEECHES ON EVERY SINGLE POLITICAL INITIATIVE DECIDES TO NOT INFORM THE PUBLIC THAT HE’S PLUNGING THE COUNTRY INTO A THIRD WAR;
CLAIMS DECISION IS NOT POLITICALLY MOTIVATED

Where’s Cindy Sheehan and Michael Moore when you really need ’em?

At Instapundit: YOU KNOW THERE’S A DEMOCRAT IN THE WHITE HOUSE WHEN YOU SEE HEADLINES LIKE THIS IN THE NEW YORK TIMES:  Bomb Syria, Even if It Is Illegal.

Update 2: Glenn Beck: This is about destroying sovereignty

…If we are intervening purely for humanitarian purposes, why didn’t we intervene sooner?  Why don’t we intervene in other cases of mass slaughter?  And if the tipping point is truly chemical weapons, Beck asked if you trust the intelligence community more or less than the last time they claimed there were weapons of mass destruction?

Remember the guy who cut his enemy’s heart out and ate it, Beck added?  “We’re on his side now.”

The list goes on, Beck said, including the financial cost of the endeavor and the possibility of dragging us into another war we don’t have the energy or resources for.

“Syria is not about teaching Assad a lesson.  Two days of bombing probably won’t even seem out of place in Syria today, unfortunately,” he concluded.  “Syria is not a response to the shock and horror of murder — hundreds of thousands have died… Syria is this  — it is a sick opportunity for the globalist progressive revolutionaries in our own administration and all around the globe to remold the world closer to their heart’s desire.”…

Update 3: 24 Hours That Define Barack Obama Perfectly

…This president has failed on the economy, he has failed diplomatically, he has failed as a job creator, the scandals have been an ethical failure ,  he has failed as commander-in-chief in Benghazi, his position in Syria is self-serving and has certainly failed as a person who brought races together.

But there are two things he can do all day long.  He could be black and he can read a speech from a teleprompter with the best of them and because the media has no other reason to celebrate this president, they indulged themselves knowing the next day they would be back to covering a feckless president unable to lead, unable to govern…

…What does it say when the supporters of a president and the media are more concerned with a good visual than with the coming of war and what does it say about our country that it has taken only five years to reach this point that would have been unthinkable before?

Remember America you did this to yourself.
