When ‘Mother Jones’ Opposed ‘Selectively Edited’ Video ‘Reported Uncritically By the Media’

So what do we know?

1. The left-wing David Corn at the left-wing “Mother Jones” released selective portions of  hidden video taken without Mitt Romney’s knowledge at a fundraiser this spring.

2. The corrupt media (that hates when James O’Keefe releases secret video) ran and is still running with the video, hoping to turn it onto the silver bullet that will finally and forever kill Mitt Romney’s campaign.

3. That Mitt Romney asked that the full unedited video be released.

4. That David Corn and “Mother Jones” agreed to release the full unedited video.

5. That David Corn and “Mother Jones” claimed to have released the full unedited video.

6. That David Corn and “Mother Jones” lied when they said they had released the full unedited video.

7. That somewhere around two minutes of the video is missing, and that in the wildest of wild coincidences, the missing minutes just happen to occur around the portion of the video the media is claiming is the most damaging to Romney — the portion about the 47%.

8. That “Mother Jones” and David Corn not only lied but that as an institution — as this editorial from March of last year makes clear  — “Mother Jones” is an institution filled with wild-eyed hypocrites…

…Frankly, I also don’t believe Corn and “Mother Jones” when they claim to not have access to the missing minutes or any idea what occurred during those missing minutes. That this strange edit happens during the portion of the tape Corn and “Mother Jones” are using to beat Romney senseless with is just too coincidental for my taste…

At Legal Insurrection, Critical audio gap in “complete” Romney tape released by Mother Jones (Update – Corn responds, 1-2 minutes missing)

…Something is missing.  Romney’s 47% answer was cut off before completed, and is not picked up on the Part 2 audio video.

So the “complete” audio/video has not been released by Corn, or Corn never had it to begin with.

The explanation may be innocent, or the audio/video may be incomplete.

Given how various pundits have projected that the tape destroys Romney’s campaign, and the audio/video gap cuts off Romney’s highly publicized answer, I think we are entitled to the full audio/video, or an explanation of why we don’t have it…

…The Chick-Fil-A controversy animated a whole lot of people. It just turned out that the people it most animated were the people who agreed with Dan Cathy.

So it is, I think, with Mitt Romney’s comments. I think the media and the left have badly misread the American mood on this…

…this is really what the left and media miss, a fair number of those people in the 47% are not there by choice. They are there by Barack Obama’s economic policies. And they absolutely understand that Barack Obama’s policies got them there. All they need to hear from Mitt Romney is that he really does get it and really will fix the problem, not just manage the decline of the nation as his primary opponents claimed he would.

That off the cuff, off the record talk was what they needed to hear. Mitt Romney recognizes we have a problem with government dependency, as do a majority of Americans. But more importantly, Mitt Romney will improve the lives of that 47% by growing the private sector, not redistributing pieces of the economic pie…

Also, The 47%-ers for Mitt Limousine liberals and government workers for Obama are not among The 47%
