WASHINGTON — The Senate Judiciary Committee delayed a vote on the confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan on Tuesday after Republicans requested it be pushed back. Republicans have raised concerns about what they call her activist judicial philosophy, but the 50-year-old Kagan is ultimately expected to be confirmed by the full Senate. Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, a Vermont Democrat, said he plans to hold the vote July 20.
