More thoughts on proposed law giving President control of the internet

“Thinking Like Our Founding Fathers”

Last spring, a proposed U.S. Senate bill appeared attempting to hand over to the White House the power to disconnect privately owned computers from the Internet.

That version was revised by Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D-WV) behind closed doors. It is S.773 and part of it can be read here.

Under this proposed, revised Senate bill, the President can declare a “cybersecurity emergency” and essentially sieze control of the Internet; shut it down and stop any private or business entity from using the Internet.
How much more socialist power does Obama want?

“some ….. have begun to wonder why a government that receives failing marks on cybersecurity should be trusted to instruct the private sector what to do.” CNET News.

Good point. And remember, this is the same government that couldn’t run the simple “Cash for Clunkers” program and now wants to run things when it comes to maintaining our own health!

So will telling us when we can and cannot access the Internet be far behind?

Four questions the Obama White House will not answer about this bill.
