With the special election race for New York’s 23rd Congressional District yet to be certified, it seems that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi may have illegally sworn in Democrat Bill Owens when she did so last week.
Speaking with Fox News’ Neil Cavuto, Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman says that the winner may not be officially certified for another couple of weeks, since it won’t be known who received the most votes in the election race until after the 10,000 submitted absentee ballots are counted.
“One way or another they’ll at least announce what the account is at that point, and if its very very close or doubtful, each candidate will still have another week to protest.”
Hoffman says he now regrets having conceded on election night since he was told at that time that he was trailing by 6,000 votes, when it was later found that he was actually only trailing by about 3,000 votes with 10,000 absentee ballots remaining.
The Conservative Party candidate then reveals that Pelosi was aware that prior to her swearing in Owens that the election had not yet been certified.
“Nancy Pelosi was informed by the New York State Board of Elections that they could not certify the vote on Thursday or Friday after the election, and she still swore in Bill Owens.”
