Fox News’ alarmist coverage of rising gas prices extended all the way to the White House briefing room on Tuesday. During President Obama’s first solo news conference since November, Fox News White House Reporter Ed Henry asked the president if he actually wants gas prices to go even higher. Obama mocked Henry’s question.

“Ed, just from a political perspective, do you think the President of the United States, going into reelection, wants gas prices to go up even higher? … Is there anybody here who thinks that makes a lot of sense?”

And while the President was at work today, “Obama shrugs off supporters’ sexual insults of GOP women, bemoans Rush’s rhetoric”

…Obama, however, declined to condemn TV comedian Bill Maher for calling former Republican Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin a “c*nt” during a live show in Dallas.

Maher told his television audience that he could use that language because “I don’t have sponsors – I’m on HBO.”…

…Before declining TheDC’s question about Maher and The Roots, Obama had declined to answer a related question about political double standards.

That question, from a USA Today reporter, cited Limbaugh’s insults and asked if there was a double standard when liberal commentators have made “provocative or distasteful statements and there hasn’t been such an outrage.”

Obama declined to answer, prompting TheDC to repeat the question, citing both the band and the HBO host.

The president again declined to answer — saying only “Thank you” — before inviting a question from another reporter about Democratic claims that Republcians ware waging a “war on women.”…

On her Facebook page Sarah Palin wrote:

Pres. Obama says he called Sandra Fluke because of his daughters. For the sake of everyone’s daughter, why doesn’t his super PAC return the $1 million he got from a rabid misogynist?
