Remember the ruckus when Scooter Libby was tried by Patrick Fitzgerald for supposedly leaking deep-cover operative Valerie Plame’s identity to reporters, when in fact her identity had been leaked already by Richard Armitage? Remember how she was on the cover of Vanity Fair, and how a slanted movie was made about the whole business, and how Libby’s crime—remembering the events differently from Tim Russert—was going to get the entire Bush administration frog-marched out of the White House? Good times.
Now, in a three paragraph report from CBS News, we learn that John Kirakou [sic], who leaked the identity of an actual covert agent to journalists (among other information), has been sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison in a plea bargain…
