There are a number of ways you can help the folks in Joplin and surrounding areas. Don’t forget that agencies like the American Red Cross have been stretched thin this Spring by devastating tornadoes across the south and the current flooding on the Mississippi River. Please do whatever you can to help our fellow citizens.
Update: Freedom’s Lighthouse has this terrifying video of a group of people–including children and babies–who took shelter in a convenience store. If this doesn’t make your heart stop in mortal fear for this group as you listen to the children crying and a woman praying…
Brian has information and commentary with the video.
Update 2: On YouTube, the person who recorded this video writes:
The video i took while at Fastrip on east 20th street. We huddled in the back of the store until the glass got sucked out , then ran into the walk in storage fridge. Sorry for the lack of visuals but the audio is pretty telling of how intense the storm was. The tornado hits at around 1:20 seconds.
