Obama + Wright + Farrakhan = Libya?

24 February 2011

Last night we were watching Glenn Beck on FNC when, just moments into the program, the network broke to air President Barack Obama’s remarks about the genocide that had been unfolding for nine days in Libya. During the crisis Obama has chosen to trot out Secretary Clinton to make the occasional comment on the situation. These were the President’s first words to our nation and the world about a dictator’s brutality against civilians so, naturally, we expected a strong rebuke. His condemnation, in our opinion, was unbelievably weak especially when compared to his treatment of Mubarak during the recent Egyptian uprising. It was, in fact, more reminiscent of his (non-)handling of the Iranian student uprising in 2009. And curiously, during his remarks last night, Barack Obama never once mentioned the terrorist General Qaddafi by name.

When the network returned to Beck he made these exact points. Why has it taken so long for America to condemn Qaddafi’s ruthless actions against the Libyan people? Why did the President not mention the General by name? What does American stand for anymore if we do not condemn genocide? To be sure, Libya is a major supplier of our oil; Egypt is a strategic component in moving that oil to Europe and the United States. But that doen’t seem to be the complete answer.

While we listened to Beck’s show, a story that had surfaced during the 2008 campaign came to mind.

Last night, at Ace of Spades HQ, Ace chided Obama for voting “present” on Libya.

But the U.S. union violence against citizens has been sucking all the air out of the room of late and bloggers, as well as media, have been spending their time researching and documenting that story which, by the way, the Party of Civil Discourse has yet to condemn. It’s shocking to see union bosses and politicians and singers behaving like mafiosi, telling Americans they need to “beat down” fellow Americans because we cannot pay them any more money. But y’all know what that double-standard-Saul-Alinsky-strategy is about by now, as well as our President’s intimate involvement with these bullies, so let’s turn our attention back to Libya for just a moment.

Obama’s Church: Its Hidden Ties to Black Extremism and Communism, Part 1

This is part one of a several part guest series on the hidden side of Barack Obama’s former Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.

The author Max Friedman is an expert on the US far left, in which he worked undercover in the late 1960s and 1970s.

Friedman has testified before US Senate internal Security hearings, has contributed to several books and has written numerous columns and articles.

This is by far the most comprehensive examination of Obama’s church to date…

…This second column, entitled “Obama and the Drive for Slavery Reparations“, provides a great amount of details about what was not generally known about Wright and his church concerning this issue. Some of the people mentioned in this article have been associated with marxist groups including the Democratic Socialists of America and the Republic of New Africa (once a violent Maoist group), other black extremist groups, and have had contact with foreign governments, movements, and America-haters.

While in and of itself, this is not too surprising to those who have followed the far-left movements in the US over the past 40 years, what is of concern is who Wright and other leaders of that particular church have been associating with over the years that the Obamas were members.

We know almost nothing of Wright’s teaching trip to Cuba in 1984 “to teach Christians about the value of nonviolent protest” and his trip with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, the black extremist, racist, anti-semite and cult-figure, to Libya in a gesture of support to Libyan dictator Muammar Kadafi (Qaddafi) in 1984 and 1987. (The first trip was loaded with black extremists and communists, though no complete list or story about those individuals appeared in a search of the internet)…

…The official Cuban newspaper “Granma” was quoted in the ID article of 8/3/84 as saying that the conference talked about many things concerning racism, social justice and civil rights in the U.S. and that “Other important subjects discussed were the history of black religion in the United States, the work of theologists in the Caribbean, theology and Marxist analysis, black liberation theology and the significance of the life and work of Martin Luther King for Cuban Churches.”

So besides supporting terrorist/dictator Muammar Qaddafi during his several trips to Libya with Rev. Farrakhan, Wright was also a friend of Communist Cuban and the marxist Sandinista regime in Nicaragua where religion was led by marxist Jesuit priest Fr. Miguel D’Escoto, now a leader of one of the United Nation’s key organizations.

The the Trinity United Church in Chicago had its reverend up to his ears in friendly relations with the Communist butchers of Havana, Managua, and Qaddafi in Libya, all in one year. Not a bad day’s work. The Church’s motto of “Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian” seemed to have left out and “we are also supporters of anti-semites, terrorists and communists here and abroad.”

One good article covering this topic is “Obama Ties to ‘Separatist’ Pastor Raise Big Questions,” The Jewish Journal, by Edwin Black, March 20, 2008…

Oh, it’s a long and very involved story. Get your favorite beverage and read the whole thing…do your own research! In 2008 and 2009 nearly everyone was certain that Obama’s relationship with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright was of no consequence, that the anti-semite Louis Farrakhan anointing Obama as the Messiah was merely a case of black pride. What do you think? What’s the truth? If any of this is true, should we be at all surprised to see the turmoil that is unfolding across America and around the world? Or is this all just coincidence, a conspiracy?

But there’s more at New Zeal by Friedman:

Obama’s Church: Its Hidden Ties to Black Extremism and Communism, Part 2

Since Obama officially joined the UCC about 1988 (though his first contact with Wright was in 1985), we have to look at what the Reverend and his church have been doing ever since. While some of the Church’s newsletters are not available on their website, other information about their activities do appear in the websites of black reparationists and in a black Marxist publication.

As was mentioned in Kincaid’s piece, in 1998, Rev. Wright was a panelist during a conference held by the avowedly marxist, anti-imperialist “Black Radical Congress.” In fact, this information was listed in “The Black Scholar” magazine (Journal of Black Studies and Research), Vol. 28, No. 3/4, Fall/Winter 1998 and was found in the section ” Black Radical Congress: Summary of Workshop Sessions June 19-21, 1998, University of Illinois at Chicago”.

Others on this panel entitled “Faith as a Weapon: Spirituality and the Role of the Church in the Radical Movement” were also from the far-left and included well known leftist (Prof.) Michael Eric Dyson, marxist Prof. Cornel West, and CPUSA supporter Kevin Tyson (coordinator).

In fact, many of the participants were actual co-founders of the BRC included Alkalimat, Bill Fletcher Jr (DSA), Manning Marable (DSA/COC), Cornel West (DSA), and Ahmed Obafemi (chairman, National Committe to Defend the New Afrikan Freedom Fighters – see next paragraph). Groups that helped to found the BRC included the New Afrikan People’s Organization (NAPO), Black Workers for Justice, The Labor Party, the Communist Party USA, its split-off faction the Committees of Correspondence (COC), the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement, African American Agenda 2000, and the Chicago Ida B. Wells Forum. The only way to describe these groups would be marxist, communist, and/or black extremist. The NAACP and the Urban League were no where to be found, and wisely so. [See: “Obama File 34 Black Radicals for Obama“, 10/04/08, by the incredible research/writer Trevor Loudon of New Zealand]…

…The BRC has served as a nexus of many black marxist and black racist/ethnocentric organizations as will be seen below, as have a few other reparations groups. This interlocking web of extremists must be viewed in its entirety in order to understand how it provides a nationwide structure in which individuals and groups can move, recruit, raise money, lobby legislative organizations, and propagandize, often right under the nose of unsuspecting moderates, including many churches.

For example, at the Trinity Church, Rev. Wright and his cronies were also members of and/or attending conferences held by the black racist/separatist group known as N’COBRA, National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America, as mentioned in the Kincaid columns. This group started out as a small group of black extremists in Philadelphia and has spread across the country, though its actual membership appears to be a lot smaller than they will admit to.

They publish a newsletter entitled “Black Reparation Times” which started in 2003. We will get back to the “BRT” in a few paragraphs…

We all have a lot of reading and researching to do. Meanwhile, Libya is in flames…

Libya Libya protests: 'Now we've seen the blood our fears have gone'

Update: from Zip at Weasel Zippers

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence Obama failed to mention Gaddafi by name during his pathetic condemnation of the bloodbath in Libya.

JERUSALEM – As pressure mounts on the White House to intervene to stop Moammar Gadhafi’s bloody crackdown in Libya, many commentators have been wondering why Barack Obama has been cautious in his criticism of the dictator after the U.S. president so fervently supported the removal from office of U.S. ally Hosni Mubarak of Egypt.

But Gadhafi has been tied to Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s spiritual adviser for more than 23 years.

The Libyan dictator also has financed and strongly supported the Nation of Islam and its leader, Louis Farrakhan. Obama has ties to Farrakhan and his controversial group…

Jeremiah Wright, former pastor of Obama’s longtime Chicago church, went with Farrakhan to visit Gadhafi in 1984.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Wright himself noted the trip could cause problems for Obama.

“When [Obama’s] enemies find out that in 1984 I went to Tripoli to visit [Gadhafi] with Farrakhan, a lot of his Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in hell.”

Farrakhan, a close friend and associate of Wright, has been financed by Gadhafi, including with a $5 million interest-free loan in 1985.

If the Ivy League geniuses in the White House can’t spell Libya, or can’t even be bothered to spell-check it, it’s not really that important, I guess. From The Blaze:

Forget Libya. What is this ‘Lybia’ you speak of?

Update: Obama’s ambassador to the U.N., Susan Rice, skipped a Security Council meeting on Libya to attend a panel discussion on global sustainability in South Africa…probably just another coincidence. After all, it was only a session held at the urging from Libya’s deputy ambassador to the United Nations, Ibrahim Dabbashi. It could have been about anything, right?…At GatewayPundit.

Update 2: Doug Powers at Michelle Malkin, Gaddafi was Jeremiah Wright before Jeremiah Wright was cool

As the Obama administration’s response to the situation in Libya stampedes decisively toward “strongly worded letter addressed to nobody in particular” territory, Aaron Klein has written about Barack Obama’s longtime paster, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, and his connection to Muammar Gaddafi.

Wright is quoted as saying the following the year before the 2008 election: “When [Obama’s] enemies find out that in 1984 I went to Tripoli to visit [Gadhafi] with Farrakhan, a lot of his Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in hell.”

The quote originally appeared in the New York Times in 2007…

Update 3: At TigerHawk, Libya-Rank Speculation Regarding Our Silence

I’ve been struck by the relative quiet from our current administration regarding events in Libya. Having said that, I am as yet reluctant to criticize our silence. It is possible that silence actually means something more intriguing and useful in this context. I’ll grant you, this is an optimists view, but fueled by 2 possibilities – one highly likely, the other less so. The first – we have a material number of Americans and friends who need to be evacuated promptly so they do not become hostages to Qaddafi in the region. Active efforts to locate and evacuate them are better served by stealth rather than vocal antagonism…

…Could it be that the US and other allies have inserted special forces or intelligence operatives into Libya, armed locals and are leading or supporting local tribes – not unlike what we did in Afghanistan 10 years ago?…

Update 4: via Weasel Zippers, Gaddafi: Barakeh Obama is friend

Update 5: More Weasel Zippers! Obama Earmarked $400k for Two Libyan Charities Run by Gaddafi’s Children… Hence the failure to mention Gaddafi by name…
