Columnist and author of “The Undocumented,” Mark Steyn said Donald Trump’s rise in the polls shows “the voter base of the Republican Party absolutely hates the Republican Party leadership and establishment” on Friday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Your World with Neil Cavuto.”…
He continued, “I don’t think he’s a Herman Cain character. If you remember, Herman Cain was asked about Uzbekistan, and I don’t think he’d heard of the joint. … And Trump, in that sense, is actually much more on top the facts. And he has found a real issue that resonates. And if he is just a flash in the pan, then the guy who succeeds him will be someone who taps into that issue. Now, Rand Paul, Rand Paul is a very smart guy, but he takes refuge in the same cliches. He said, in part of that statement where he called Trump’s voters insane, he says Washington is broken. The problem is, that if you’re a Democrat, Washington isn’t broken. It works very effectively for you. … If Rand Paul wants to drive a stake through Donald Trump’s candidacy, he’s got to have a better answer for that than the one he gave today.”…

On Tuesday afternoon, GOP hopeful Dr. Ben Carson appeared on The Lead with Jake Tapper on CNN to discuss the Planned Parenthood baby parts business model, and made some simple, obvious, but altogether inarguable points. One moment in particular stood out and was featured in a video Tuesday evening byDigitas Daily.
Jake Tapper, who is an excellent and competent interviewer, asked exactly the right question, and Dr. Carson gave exactly the right answer. Tapper asked whether Dr. Carson had an answer to whether defunding Planned Parenthood would be detrimental to people in poor areas based on Planned Parenthood’s claim that they are the only provider of women’s medical services. Dr. Carson’s brief reply is pretty much a conversation ender.
“I thought that they were supposed to be able to get all those things based on Obamacare. Why do we need Planned Parenthood?”
…Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Sen. James Lankford (R-OK), and Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) will work together to create a plan, according to Politico. The media organization adds that “The vote is all but certain to fail, given strong Democratic support for the organization.”…
ABC “This Week’s” host George Stephanopoulos asked a series of questions that seemed designed to provoke some introspection from Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, but instead she repeatedly asserted that controversial undercover videos were “highly edited” by a “militant” anti-abortion group that seeks to “entrap doctors” who do “not profit at all from fetal tissue donation,” even as unedited footage rolled of high-level executives haggling over fetal organ prices.
Richards started by comparing the video makers, the Center for Medical Progress, to those who bomb abortion clinics or murder abortionists…
…”This was actually a three year effort to entrap doctors; they were completely unsuccessful … now they’re using these very highly edited videos … they have zero credibility; they set up a fake company; they apparently used fake government IDs; they faked tax filings; and completely falsified what they were about.”…
…Richards, who had just mischaracterized the video, stares at Stephanopoulos with an angry no-teeth grin as he asks, “If there’s no financial benefit to the clinics, why are they haggling over the cost?”
“They’re not!” she shot back angrily. “The only people haggling in these videos are the undercover folks who are absolutely trying to entrap doctors! And they were completely unsuccessful!”…
…“Now, let me tell you all the amendments Mitch McConnell blocked because he wants to reauthorize this corporate welfare and cronyism. He blocked my amendment to defund Planned Parenthood. In the wake of these gruesome videos, where they appear to admit to multiple felonies, we should be defunding them, and we should defund them this week. He blocked my amendment to repeal the Congressional exception from Obamacare. He doesn’t want a vote on that. It’s another of example of cronyism…

They also asked the state’s top law enforcement official to look into possible violations of the Invasion of Privacy Act, which bars recording people without their permission.
“We will carefully review the allegations raised in your letter to determine whether there were any violations of California law,” Harris, a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, wrote in a reply Friday.
“This office will also review any materials filed by the Center for Medical Progress with the Attorney General’s Registry of Charitable Trusts to determine whether the organization violated laws including, but not limited to, our registration and reporting requirements.”…

US Secretary of State John Kerry faced accusations Thursday that he had been “fleeced” and “bamboozled” by Tehran as he defended the Iran nuclear deal publicly for the first time on Capitol Hill.
Kerry appeared before the Senator Foreign Relations Committee to defend the hard-fought agreement, which he called a “good deal for the world” that deserves the approval of a skeptical Congress…
The deal was reached after tough negotiations between Iran and the Security Council’s five permanent members — Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States — plus Germany.
But it faces stiff resistance notably among Republicans in the Senate and the House of Representatives, which have 60 days to review it.
Congress can pass a motion of disapproval, but President Barack Obama can then veto that. An override of the veto would require two-thirds approval in both the House and Senate…
White House National Security Advisor Susan Rice admitted the existence of two secret “side deals” between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to accompany the main Iran nuclear deal agreed last week between Iran and the P5+1 powers (U.S., Britain, France, Germany, Russia, and China).
The two secret deals, which cover the Parchin military site and the possible military dimensions (PMDs) of Iran’s nuclear program, were revealed Wednesday by Sens. Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-KS), who had learned of the deals after meeting July 17 with IAEA in Vienna…
…Cotton and Pompeo have written a letter to Obama, pointing out that he has failed to comply with the Corker bill and asking him to transmit the two side deals immediately…
Two key documents are missing from the Iran nuclear deal submitted to Congress, and the two leaders of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee want the Obama administration to hand them over, Chairman Bob Corker said Tuesday.

Former Florida Congressman Allen West absolutely exploded over the Iran nuclear deal during a fiery speech at a “Stop Iran Deal Rally” in New York City’s Times Square on Wednesday. The Republican strongly criticized President Barack Obama’s leadership on the issue, calling him a “weakling” and “charlatan.” West asked the crowd of thousands “what message” the United States is sending by negotiating with the “number one state sponsor of terrorism” and a country that is holding “four Americans hostage.” “No different than the last time we had a weakling in the White House when we had 52 Americans being held hostage,” he added, referring to the Iranian hostage crisis during the Jimmy Carter administration.Later in his fiery speech, West accused Obama and other administration officials of “surrendering” to the Republic of Iran.
“I want President Obama to know one thing,” West said. “You may say that you have done something that no one else has done. You know why no one else has done it? Because it’s a damn stupid thing you just did.”
He continued: “If people are upset because of what I’m saying, I really don’t care. Because I had a father that stood at World War II…I gave 22 years of my life to make sure that that great beacon of liberty, freedom and democracy continues to stand. And I have a nephew, I have friends that are still serving on the front lines — and my commitment is to the oath that I took on 31, July, 1982, to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”
Organizers estimated roughly 10,000 people attended the rally on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.
