The Story of #BrettKimberlin…and Why You Should Care

Brett Kimberlin is a convicted domestic terrorist. Here’s a detailed account of his terrorist activities…

…He’s also a “perjurer, attempted murderer, and all-around vicious jackass.”

Recently he went after blogger Aaron Worthing, who dared to blog about him. Kimberlin “attempted to make authorities in Maryland believe that on January 9, 2012, as we were both exiting a courtroom, [Walker] essentially beat him up.

Walker published a monster 28,000 word post on the entire affair here.

Patterico noted, “This is not an isolated instance, by the way. Kimberlin and his supporters have used frivolous accusations of criminal activity, frivolous lawsuits, and harassment and intimidation to attack every blogger who dared reveal anything about his past — including me. That story is coming.”

Here is that story (I think.)

After Walker’s post went viral, Kimberlin filed another peace order against him. But it was too late. Bloggers had taken notice, including Stacy McCain. He’s the reason I know about it.

Stacy posted “Convicted Terrorist Brett Kimberlin Received $70,000 From Tides Foundation, $10,000 From Streisand, $20,000 from John Kerry’s Wife” on May 17th, linking to an article on Capital Research showing how leftists with money had no reservations in giving thousands to a convicted terrorist.

Next he reminded us all who first warned us about Brett Kimberlin…

Loud and bold action for free speech: The National Day of Blogger Silence

Update: Via DaTechguy from an interview with R. S. McCain: The Wizard of OddDespite a spotty past, Internet activist Brett Kimberlin has played a central role in the debate over electronic voting. A 2007 article at Time.com

…In the belly of the voting-reform movement is a man who personifies this paradoxical lack of credibility in the service of a credible cause. Brett Kimberlin was convicted in 1981 of a series of bombings in Indiana. By his own account, he dealt “many, many tons” of marijuana in the 1970s. Most famously, he is the man who from his prison cell alleged that as a law student Dan Quayle bought marijuana from him. Quayle repeatedly denied the charge, and it was never substantiated. In e-mails and Web postings from Kimberlin’s two organizations, Justice Through Music and Velvet Revolution, he intersperses occasionally useful pieces of information about the problems of e-voting with a hefty portion of bunk, repeatedly asserting as fact things that are not true. Kimberlin, in short, is an unlikely candidate to affect an important issue of public policy.

And yet he has. Kimberlin has found a home in the blogosphere, digging up and disseminating an indiscriminate gush of anti-e-voting material. In turn, a loose network of lawyers, congressional staff members and academics have filtered that torrent, verifying and using parts of it for their cause, many of them without knowing Kimberlin’s background…
