Truth Revolt

A new, unedited version of comments by Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy has emerged, and it sheds some light on the context of his remarks, universally condemned on Thursday as horrifically racist.
The 67-year-old Bundy, battling the U.S. government after federal agents stormed his ranch to confiscate his cattle in a dispute over grazing fees, said far more than what appeared in the New York Times and most other news accounts. While his grammar is pretty bad — and his use of “negro” and “colored” considered politically incorrect (although they were both once preferred terms chosen by blacks) — he actually was making a larger point, not simply deriding blacks…
…One clear point the rancher made: America has progressed since the 1965 race riots and “we sure don’t want to go back.”…
…Bundy thinks Hispanics are hard-working family people, and laments the current plight of American blacks under the federal welfare system while saying there has been much progress and that “we sure don’t want to go back.” As always, there’s more to the story than what the New York Times says.

…“To advance his extreme, hateful views, Bundy has endangered the lives of innocent women and children,” the Nevada senator said.
Reid has found himself in a media firestorm over racial comments before. In 2010, the book “Game Change” reported that Reid had praised President Obama, before he was elected, as someone who is “light skinned” and has “no Negro dialect.”…
Gavin McInnes: What Cliven Bundy Should Have Said
Sounds about right, plus: At any rate, as Dana points out, this isn’t about some old guy’s views on slavery. It’s about government control. We’re not saying Bundy is the messiah and we accept him as our personal savior. We’re saying the government is wrong.
Update: Media uses cherry-picked Bundy comments to smear all conservatives as racist
…But it turns out that the video used by the New York Times and others does not show all of Bundy’s comments. As it turns out, the video claiming to prove that Bundy — and by extension, everyone who is or ever was a conservative — is a racist, was selectively edited out of an hour long video which can be seen here.
Other outlets have also noted the fact that while Bundy’s comments were perhaps clumsy and not the kind of thing a polished speaker would have said, they were taken out of context. But it seems the Media Matters chop job had the desired impact as a number of people, including Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck, have denounced Bundy as racist, based on the edited video.
Unfortunately, as the saying goes, a lie has made its way around the world several times before the truth had a chance to tie its shoelaces.
CNN Asks Bundy ‘How Does it Feel to be Abandoned by Your Friends at Fox?’ (video)
CNN’s Bill Weir aggressively questioned rancher Cliven Bundy Thursday over his “disgusting” comments on race, asking him “How does it feel to be abandoned by your friends on Fox?” Bundy dismissed the notion that he’d been abandoned, maintaining that Hannity and others have “misunderstood” him and would support him if they “understood what was in my heart.”
Former Congressman Joe Walsh: Cliven Bundy is NOT a racist for worrying about Black America… (video)
In an impassioned monologue, a frustrated former Congressman Joe Walsh defends Cliven Bundy from the rest of the media, pointing out that Bundy is not a racist for worrying out loud about Black America. Walsh points out that Bundy is historically wrong on the idea that blacks could have been better under slavery, but he’s not a racist.
Update 2: CNN Goes Bundy-Trolling on Racial Issues & Gets Retort from Black Bodyguard They Don’t Expect (video)
…The question is: What does the guy’s character have to do with the principle in play, anyway? Bundy’s story was not picked for his character, it was picked because it was an abuse of the federal government’s power.
The fact that so many think his story is nullified by his personal opinions goes to show how many in the American public there are who are simply incapable of defending their own rights whenever a leftist yells that he finds something “offensive.”…
Black Marine’s Letter Refutes Left-Wing Media Narrative that Cliven Bundy is a ‘Racist’
…Bottom line is that we are all slaves in this waning republic, no matter our skin color. Mr. Bundy could have used any racial demographic as an example: Native Americans on reservations, whites in trailer parks, etc. He noticed the crippling effects of receiving government “assistance” and the long term result of accepting handouts.
It’s not progress at all. I challenge Sean Hannity, Rand Paul, and others to read my comment and reconsider their position in this matter. Individual liberties are at stake here, yours and mine. THAT is the issue…
