New passport questionnaire baffles many with absurd info demands

CAJ note: Were you circumcised [any ‘religious ceremony’ around the time of birth*]?! Just when you think this administration couldn’t possibly become any more invasive, or restrict your freedom of movement any further, this new passport application appears…

Who was present when you were born? Can you remember every address you’ve ever had? How about every place you’ve ever worked? Were you circumcised?

What if I told you that those were some of the queries the State Department is proposing for a new “biographical questionnaire” as part of the passport application?

Sounds absurd, doesn’t it? It’s true. Take a look

…According to BoingBoing, the form is meant for those who, while applying for a passport, can’t produce a birth certificate. “But as the FA suggests,” the site notes, “the circumstances in which people unable to provide a birth certificate will be given this form (rather than the traditional bureaucratic investigation) are not spelled out; further, the form itself remains a Kafkaesque impossibility for most people to complete.”…

The article, with several good links and a sample application form, continues at The Blaze.

At The Daily Caller, Obama’s State Department doesn’t want you to leave America, ever again.

New passport rules will keep you grounded (forever) — Don’t believe me? Check out the proposed new passport requirements: “Form DS-5513 asks for all addresses since birth; lifetime employment history including employers’ and supervisors names, addresses, and telephone numbers; personal details of all siblings; mother’s address one year prior to your birth; any ‘religious ceremony’ around the time of birth*; and a variety of other information,” reports Consumer Traveler, which adds that only “some” citizens will have to fill out the questionnaire. Who of us counts as “some” is a complete and total mystery, as the State Department’s proposed rule does not include a handy chart for determining which level of hell applicants must travel to in order to be able to go to Cancun for spring break. Consumer Traveler also reports that “the State Department estimated that the average respondent would be able to compile all this information in just 45 minutes.”

The Right Scoop: Beck: Obama forcing DREAM Act with new passport regulations?

Beck opened his radio show today talking about the crazy new regulations that the Obama Administration is requiring in order for someone to get their passport. According to Beck this includes, among other things, all the addresses you lived at since birth and your lifetime employment history complete with supervisor names. This is absurd! There is no way I could fill that out that form. But maybe I wouldn’t have to.

Apparently this biographical form is only for certain people but Beck says there is no explanation of who those people might be. This has led him to wonder if the Obama Admin might be trying to ‘trap’ certain illegal aliens in the US to force the intent of the Dream Act on America. I guess that’s possible.

My first thought when I heard him discuss this was that it gives the Obama admin another method of potentially bullying companies into submitting to their will. I mean why else would you do this? What part of trapping people in the United States makes any sense?
