Let's Restore the Culture of the Declaration of Independence

…Nobel laureate Friedrich Hayek noted in his book “The Constitution of Liberty” that a free society demands more than any other that people be held responsible for their actions. If you are going to be free to act according to your own plan, then you must accept the consequences of your actions when you fail and garner the benefits when you succeed.

If you’re going to be held responsible for your actions, then you’ll have an incentive to behave in a way that will make the best use of your time, talent and resources…

…We should use this Fourth of July to make sure that our children, and our neighbors as well, realize that this country, which was based on individual freedom and responsibility, is moving away from its roots. Once we’ve begun to view the government as our guardian, we’ll have moved inexorably down the road to serfdom.

Let us restore America’s culture of relying on family, friends, church and charity rather than a government that, in the words of the Declaration of Independence, “has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people and eat out our substance.”
