The Supreme Court in an historic 5-4 ruling on Friday said there is a right to same-sex marriage in all 50 states, delivering a monumental win for gay and lesbian couples across the country.

Justice Anthony Kennedy, often the swing vote on the court, sided with its more liberal members and authored the decision…

…The issue has split Americans and politicians on mostly partisan lines. A record 57 percent of Americans support same-sex marriage, according to a recent Pew Research Center poll. But while almost two thirds of Democrats and independents back legalizing same-sex marriage, just one third of Republicans share that view…

Update: On Facebook, The Radiance Foundation wrote:

‪#‎SameSexMarriage‬…Interesting remarks from Chief Justice John Roberts, who penned the principal dissent: “If you are among the many Americans–of whatever sexual orientation–who favor expanding same-sex marriage, by all means celebrate today’s decision. Celebrate the achievement of a desired goal. Celebrate the opportunity for a new expression of commitment to a partner. Celebrate the availability of new benefits. But do not Celebrate the Constitution. It had nothing to do with it.” This ruling is no surprise from a court that has little regard for the Constitution. Just because it’s “legal” (Dred Scott v. Sandford, Minor v. Hapersett, Plessy v. Ferguson, Korematsu v. United States, Roe v. Wade, King v. Burwell) doesn’t make it right. ‪#‎ThisChangesEverything‬

Star Parker questions how the ruling affects religious liberty and linked to Court Follows Country in Acceptance of Gay Marriage:

The Court believes that the 14th amendment should include Same-sex marriage. States have already decided how they felt about these decisions based off the wills of their people! Is the privilege of same-sex couples to marry more important that the privilege of the State to make its own decisions for its people? Instead of granting considerable rights and then leaving the rest to each State, the Supreme Court ignored millions of Americans in order to continue their rise in power. Once again the Supreme Court has chosen to rule the people with loose arguments, rather than ensure that all liberties for all people are attained. The right to decide what is best for your State is now lost!! WHAT HAPPENS NOW TO RELIGIOUS LIBERTY?

Although we disagree with this Court’s rulings, we must fall on our knees and pray for this country. We cannot stop fighting for the morality and soul of our nation. No matter what happens, this country needs strong Christians who will show love, compassion, and determination when it comes to the Gospel. God will take care of us, as He always has. Update 2: Scalia: Supreme Court now a ‘threat to American democracy’

…”I write separately to call attention to this Court’s threat to American democracy,” he wrote in a dissent, just a day after he dissented in a decision that upheld a key part of Obamacare.

Scalia said he didn’t care about the substance of the ruling, but said the way the Court ruled means the nine justices are now essentially in charge of Americans.

“Today’s decree says that my Ruler, and the Ruler of 320 million Americans coast-to-coast, is a majority of the nine lawyers on the Supreme Court,” he wrote…
