Sen. Rand Paul says he’ll vote “no” on the Senate’s bipartisan immigration reform bill, since it doesn’t include his amendment that would grant Congress power to determine whether the U.S. southern border is secure…
…“Without some congressional authority and without border security first, I can’t support the final bill,” Paul told chief political correspondent Candy Crowley.
Supporters of the comprehensive immigration reform bill need 60 votes to gain passage in the Senate, but hope a larger majority will help propel the measure in the GOP-controlled House of Representatives, where its prospects appear dim. With that goal in mind, an amendment was introduced this week that vastly ramps up resources along the southern border, including 700 miles of new fence.
But Paul said Sunday that provision wasn’t sufficient, saying throwing dollars at border security programs wasn’t any guarantee the problem would be fixed…
…“I don’t trust this administration or a Republican administration to really make a valid judgment,” he said. “I want Congress and the people to have the right to decide whether the border’s secure.”

…Crowley asked: “So, you’re a ‘no’ despite the fact they are pouring $30 billion worth of Border Patrol, they are doubling the size of the border where we’re told that illegal entry is way down. They’re going to have 24/7 drone coverage of the border. Does that not tell you the border is going to be secure?”
As Breitbart News has detailed extensively over the weekend, any and all of this new technology and money being thrown at the border in the repackaged bill would only happen after legalization, or amnesty, for illegal aliens begins–if it ever happens at all.
Several new loopholes and waivers were inserted into the more-than-thousand-page that allow Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano (or any of her successors) to decide she just does not want to use any of that technology laid out in the bill, or that she does not want to build a fence. …

Buchanan: Hispanic influx from immigration bill could break US into ‘two countries’
On Andrea Tantaros radio show last week, conservative columnist and author Pat Buchanan warned of an unintended consequence of the immigration reform bill, a bill which doesn’t place a high priority on assimilation.
According to Tantaros, her previous guest, former New York Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey, said that the immigration legislation funnels money to so-called community organizing groups like La Raza with the idea of teaching immigrants “American history, the Constitution and civic participation.” That leaves open the possibility of activist groups teaching with a partisan slant — and impedes assimilation.
Buchanan, author of “Suicide of a Superpower: Will America Survive to 2025?”explained that when different cultures are encouraged to assimilate, nations are susceptible to splitting apart, pointing to recent history as proof….
Update: ‘Dead on Arrival’: Sen. Paul Predicts Immigration Bill Doomed in House
Even with one of the Senate’s strongest opponents to the chamber’s sweeping immigration-reform bill saying legislation will likely pass with a resounding 70 votes, Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul, far left, predicts legislation is doomed in the more conservative House.
