…Africom commanding officer U.S. General Carter Ham, after being ordered to essentially surrender control of the situation to alleged Al Queda terrorists and let Americans on the ground die, made the unilateral decision to ignore orders from the Secretary of Defense and activated special operations teams at his disposal for immediate deployment to the area.
According to reports, once the General went rogue he was arrested within minutes by his second in command and relieved of duty…
…The question now is whether the American people will hold to account the chain of command responsible for leaving our people behind, fabricating a politically expedient story, and continuing to sell the now defunct lie(s) even after all of their variations of the story were found to be false and misleading.
A General who made the decision to assist diplomatic and intelligence assets on the ground has been arrested and will likely be retired or worse, while those who ordered the removal of embassy security details and ordered U.S. forces to stand-down are left to go on about their business and likely risk more American lives in the future.
In some circles the actions of those at the very top of the command structure during the Bengzahi attacks would be considered traitorous.

In an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Geraldo at Large” Sunday night, Charles Woods, father of slain Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods, said President Barack Obama did not do all he could to save the four Americans who were killed in a terrorist raid on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
Obama should have reacted sooner, he said, because the consulate was American soil…
Update: Rand Paul Goes Nuclear Over Benghazi
…Four Americans were killed—including our Ambassador to Libya—but their lives might have been saved had we intervened. I ask again: Where were the Marines to protect American personnel in Libya?
Instead of sending Marines to defend Americans in danger, the State Department was focused on “greening” our Vienna Embassy and installing charging stations for its new electric cars.
Someone must be held accountable for this inaction. The American people and the families of those who were killed expect and deserve to know the truth behind the Administration’s complete inaction and failure to protect

Mark Steyn: Benghazi bungle requires act of urgent political hygiene
…This goes far beyond the instinctive secretiveness to which even democratic governments are prone. The Obama administration created a wholly fictional storyline, and devoted its full resources to maintaining it. I understand why Mitt Romney chose not to pursue this line of argument in the final debate. The voters who will determine this election are those who voted for Obama four years ago and this time round either switch to the other fellow or sit on their hands. In electoral terms, it’s probably prudent of Mitt not to rub their faces in their 2008 votes. Nevertheless, when the president and other prominent officials stand by as four Americans die and then abuse their sacrifice as contemptuously as this administration did, decency requires that they be voted out of office as an act of urgent political hygiene.
At the photo-op staged for the returning caskets, Obama et al seem to have been too focused on their campaign needs to observe even the minimal courtesies. Charles Woods says that, at the ceremony, Joe Biden strolled over to him and by way of condolence said in a “loud and boisterous” voice, “Did your son always have balls the size of cue balls?” One assumes charitably that the vice president is acknowledging in his own inept and blundering way the remarkable courage of a man called upon to die for his country on some worthless sod halfway across the planet. But the near-parodic locker-room coarseness is grotesque both in its inaptness and in its lack of basic human feeling for a bereaved family forced to grieve in public and as crowd-scene extras to the political big shot. Just about the only formal responsibility a vice president has is to attend funerals without embarrassing his country. And this preening buffoon of pseudo-blue-collar faux-machismo couldn’t even manage that.
But a funny thing happened over the next six weeks: Obama’s own cue balls shriveled…
Update 2: Has General Ham Been Fired?
Has General Carter F. Ham, commander of U.S. Africa Command, been fired for defying Leon Panetta on Benghazi?
Glenn Reynolds, the Instapundit, ran a piece Saturday afternoon titled “Interesting Rumor Concerning General Carter Ham and Stand Down Order.” This piece is presented as a rumor. It suggests that General Ham was told to stand down from sending aid to Benghazi, that General Ham on his own decided to proceed, and that he was then relieved of his command. Remember, all rumor at this point.
On 18 October 2012, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta participated in a “DOD News Briefing on Efforts to Enhance the Financial Health of the Force.” In his introductory remarks, Mr. Panetta said: “Today I am very pleased to announce that President Obama will nominate General David Rodriguez to succeed General Carter Ham as commander of U.S. Africa Command . . .”…
George W. Bush Never Evaded Responsibility
…The last two Democrats have evaded personal responsibility for their actions, and America is suffering bloody wounds as a result.
Bill Clinton evaded the threat of Al Qaida and Osama Bin Laden after the Twin Towers bombing of 1993, allowing Bin Laden years to dig deep into the safe haven of Afghanistan and Pakistan, to plan and execute the attack of 9/11/01.
Conservatives know that history by now. If you don’t know it, look it up. Look up Bill Clinton’s responsibility for 9/11. It’s not hard to find.
Obama learned from the Clintons that the bodyguard of media liars will protect a leftist president, even at the cost of their own reputations and market shares. Billionaires like George Soros will pay for media liars when their jobs go down the drain, providing they follow the party line faithfully enough. The New York Times stock just dropped by 20% as its audience keeps walking away, but the “New York Times” brand continues to sucker the gullible. The supply of gullible people is endless, and in the worst case the NYT could become a nonprofit and be 100% supported by radical left billionaires.
Like Pravda and Isvestia, like PBS and NPR, the NYT is not dependent on a paying audience. Democratic Presidents can therefore lie and lie, day after day, and the media will not hold them responsible. That is the simple key to the last two leftist presidencies. It is the single most important factor in the fast degradation of American culture, education, all the rest…
